Terms of service

Last updated 26 August 2026.

The agreement between you and StudySmart. It is short on purpose, and it tries to say the uncomfortable parts out loud rather than bury them.

What StudySmart does

You upload your own course files, choose which pages to be tested on, and StudySmart generates flashcards and quiz questions from those pages so you can study them. That is the service. There is no tutor chat, no games, and no mobile app.

Your account

You sign in with an email address you control, or with Google. Keep access to that address, it is how you get back in. One account is for one person; do not share your sign-in link.

Your files stay yours

You keep every right you had in the material you upload. We use it for one thing only: running the service for you, storing it, reading the text out of it, and generating your study material from the pages you select. We do not sell it, publish it, or show it to other users.

In return, you confirm you are allowed to upload what you upload. If a textbook or a set of slides is licensed in a way that forbids copying it to a service like this, that is between you and whoever licensed it.

What the generated material is, and is not

Flashcards and quiz questions are written by an AI model reading your files. It can be wrong, incomplete, or confidently mistaken, even when an item shows a source line. Check anything that matters against your own material before you rely on it in an exam.

StudySmart is a study aid. It is not a teacher, not an examiner, and no part of it is a promise about your results.

Free plan and paid plans

  • The free plan includes unlimited uploads and 50 generations a day. Studying everything you have generated is unlimited and always free. A generation that fails does not count against that limit.
  • A paid plan costs $39/semester, $12.99/month, or $69/year and lets you create more study spaces.
  • Every plan renews automatically until you cancel, including the semester one: it charges again every 4 months, and the finals-week plan we sometimes offer during exam season charges again every 7 days. Your next charge date is shown in Settings, and cancelling there stops it — you keep access until the period you have already paid for runs out.
  • Readiness scores, the per-topic percentages, are free for your first 7 days. After that they keep updating in the background but need a paid plan to see. Nothing you have generated is ever taken away.
  • Your renewal date is always visible in Settings, and cancelling takes one click in the same place. Cancellation takes effect immediately and stops all future charges.
  • You are never asked to pay in the middle of a study session. The only places payment comes up are creating a second study set, and Settings.

If you are a consumer in the EU, you have a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase. Email us within that window and you get your money back, no questions and no retention offer.

Fair use

Do not use StudySmart to break the law, to upload material you have no right to, to attack or overload the service, or to resell it as your own. If you do, we can suspend the account.

Availability

StudySmart is a young product run by a small team. It can change, break, or be unavailable, and there is no uptime guarantee. Real care goes into never losing your uploads, a file always keeps its record and its status rather than silently vanishing, but keep your original course files. StudySmart is not a backup service.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, StudySmart is not liable for indirect losses, and total liability is limited to what you paid in the twelve months before the problem. Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be signed away.

Ending it

You can stop using StudySmart whenever you like, cancel from Settings, and ask for your account and files to be deleted by emailing adamboubdi1@gmail.com. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by French law, and disputes go to the courts with jurisdiction there, without affecting the protections you have as a consumer in your own country. Questions go to adamboubdi1@gmail.com.
